Harrison County Community Foundation JumpStart Pre K Program
Community Engagement Activity

Jump Start is a five-year Pre-K pilot targeting low-income children as a parallel to the statewide Early Education Matching Grant (EEMG) pre-K pilot. The Harrison County Community Foundation is funding full-day quality pre-K for up to 200 low-income and at-risk children in Harrison County. The Applied Research and Education Center provides evaluation services for the pilot.
Indiana Kids Program
Community Engagement Activity

Indiana Kids funding supports grades k-12 (age 17 and under) through the support of the Family and Social Services Agency’s (FSSA) -Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) funding. The purpose of TANF is to 1) provide assistance to needy families so that children may be cared for in their own homes 2) end the dependence of needy parents on government benefits by promoting job preparation, work, and marriage 3) prevent and reduce the incidence of out-of-wedlock pregnancies and establish annual numerical goals for preventing and reducing the incidence of these pregnancies 4) encourage the formation and maintenance of two-parent families. Indiana kids specifically addresses TANF goals 3 and 4.

Backside Learning Center Needs Assessment
Community Engagement Activity

The Backside Learning Center at Churchill Downs provides educational and enrichment programs to equine workers. The project was designed to assess perceptions of the Backside Learning Center and programming needs among the trainers and workers. The findings provide data to inform strategic planning in program development, communications, and fundraising.

Member Friends of the New Albany-Floyd County Library Board
Public Service Activity

The mission of the Friends of the New Albany-Floyd County Library Board is to support and promote the Library. The Friends Bookstore provides funding for library activities such as the summer reading program, special events and equipment. As a volunteer at the Friends Bookstore, my role is to assist in raising funds. I developed the Collector's Corner to sell old and unusual books.
